A fő érveik természetesen a törvény alkotmányellenes elemei, a pókerjáték hagyományai, az Egyesült Államok szabadidő-kultúrájában betöltött szerepe és a bankok oldaláról a törvény kivitelezhetetlensége voltak. Utóbbi akadály lényege annyiban merül ki, hogy a bankok felelőssége lett volna holnaptól, hogy eldöntsék, mi számít törvénytelen szerencsejátéknak és mi nem. Ez a homályos és hiányos elem már a határidő előtt is sok bosszúságot okozott néhány banknak és a legális szerencsejátékokat szervező ügyfeleiknek.<\/p>
A 6 hónap haladék pedig végeredményben csak egy kompromisszum, hiszen a PPA és a petíció mögött állók 1 évet szerettek volna kiharcolni, ráadásul a dokumentumot egyenesen Obama elnöknek címezték, aki viszont időhiányra hivatkozva nem foglalkozott személyesen az üggyel, hanem a kincstári főtitkárra, Timothy Geithner-re bízta a döntést.<\/p>
