Non sempre, nel poker, basta il curriculum.<\/p>

Prendiamo il tavolo finale del WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star <\/strong>di San Josè<\/strong>. In testa c'era Paul Volpe<\/strong>, celebrità del poker online (oltre 4 milioni vinti) e secondo la scorsa settimana al LAPC.<\/p>

A seguire una leggenda vivente come Erik Seidel<\/strong>, quindi un altro grinder di razza come Joe Kuether<\/strong>, quasi un milione vinto sul web, e Chris Johnson<\/strong>, già vincitore di un WSOP Circuit. Un tavolo finale \"gerarchico\", che vedeva i due meno accreditati chiudere la classifica.<\/p>

Non che si trattasse di due incapaci: WeiKai Chang<\/strong> è arrivato quarantesimo alle WSOP del 2006, quelle di Jamie Gold, e aveva già sfiorato un Final Table al WPT. In quanto a Joe Nguyen<\/strong>, era il meno conosciuto anche se qualche ITM nel tour l'aveva colto. Buoni risultati, ma converrete: tutta un'altra storia rispetto agli altri.<\/p>

Ebbene, in fondo ci sono arrivati proprio gli ultimi due. Ma andiamo a vedere brevemente cosa è successo durante questo tavolo finale.<\/p>

Le prime tre ore di gioco sono servite solo a dimostrare al pubblico che la noia esiste.<\/p>

Non che si sia giocato un brutto poker, ma quando senza grossi scontri diventa dura divertirsi. Le prime mani, tuttavia, hanno mandato in alto Chang e Nguyen, i più efficaci col loro range d'apertura del 20%.<\/p>

Male, invece, Volpe, che nel tentativo di far pesare lo stack e ammazzare il tavolo ha cominciato rilanciando oltre il 30% e trovandosi in risposta una marea di 3-bet. Seidel con il suo poker classico e un Kuether spettatore non pagante chiudevano la classifica.<\/p>

Poi i fuochi d'artificio: alla mano 78 erano in sei, dopo la numero 80 erano rimasti in quattro. Prima è uscito Kuether che, dopo aver atteso a lungo una mano decente, si è trovato con \"\"\"\" beccandosi in faccia gli \"\"\"\" di Kai Chang, che ha addirittura settato al flop. Alla mano dopo Chris Johnson, con \"\"\"\" in mano, ha visto calare al flop la peggior carta possibile contro i \"\"\"\" ancora di Chang: un \"\" che lo ha sbattuto fuori.<\/p>

Survivors<\/h2>
Si è dovuto attendere una trentina di mani prima dell'eliminazione successiva, quella di Erik Seidel<\/strong>: a sbatterlo fuori un Volpe ormai corto quasi come lui, in uno scontro che ha visto Seidel soccombere nonostante un trips di jack di fronte al colore chiuso al turn dal'avversario.\n\n\n\n\n

Un all-in che ridà fiato a Volpe, ma non troppo, visto che il suo gioco si è clamorosamente chiuso, ridotto a più miti consigli da due avversari che non hanno avuto paura di giocarsela come si vede dalla statistica che segue tratta dal sito del WPT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Così anche Volpe <\/strong>è finito fuori alla mano 146<\/strong>, quando il suo all-in con \"\"\"\" è stato praticamente snappato da Chang con \"\"\"\", con un board liscio che ha decretato l'heads-up finale.<\/p>\n

Sull'HU finale c'è davvero poco da dire, perché è stato deciso da un cooler.<\/p>\n

Nonostante l'elevatissima giocabilità <\/strong>della struttura (Chang e Nguyen sono arrivati in fondo con 119 e 74 big blinds) ci sono carte che sembrano mandare un messaggio solo: tutti a casa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ci riferiamo, in particolare, al turn della mano 152<\/strong>, un \"\" arrivato dopo un flop \"\"\"\"\"\" che da un lato ha chiuso il progetto bilaterale di scala di Chang, che aveva \"\"\"\" e dall'altro ha servito a Nguyen un'infoldabile Top Pair con flushdraw, visto il suo \"\"\"\". Il tempo di vedere un ininfluente \"\" ed è finita.<\/p>\n

Tutti a casa, signori, che si è fatto tardi! E complimenti a Kai Chang<\/strong> che porta a casa un premio di $1.138.350 mica da ridere.<\/p>\n
