Chad Brown<\/strong> non ce l'ha fatta. Il grande pokerista di New York City<\/strong> è morto poche ore fa nel proprio letto d'ospedale, dopo una lunga e massacrante lotta contro il nemico più terribile che si possa affrontare: un iposarcoma <\/strong>dello stomaco (tumore rarissimo) che lo tormentava ormai da vari anni.<\/p>

Dopo la notizia terribile della scomparsa di Johannes Strassmann<\/strong>, ritrovato poi senza vita sul greto di un fiume dalla polizia slovena, un'altra giornata nera<\/strong> per il mondo del poker, che perde uno dei personaggi più amati dai giovani aspiranti professionisti.<\/p>

Per il suo bellissimo sorriso<\/strong>, forse, oppure per la relazione con la supersexy giocatrice Vanessa Rousso<\/strong> - che è stata sua moglie e che fino all'ultimo gli è stata vicino. O, forse, perché Chad incarnava i sogni <\/strong>di ognuno di noi, lui che aveva cominciato come umile cameriere <\/strong>in una caffetteria italiana a New York, sognando di fare l'attore<\/strong>, ed era riuscito a diventare ricco e famoso solo grazie alla propria abilità, sfondando nel mondo del poker.<\/p>

La vita gli ha concesso tante cose meravigliose, prima di venire a riprendersele tutte prima del tempo, a soli 52 anni<\/strong>, nel modo più orribile. Nel 2011 l'intervento chirurgico con l'asportazione della massa tumorale, che però si ripresenta ben presto e in forma ancora più grave. Ormai fisicamente irriconoscibile<\/strong>, il coraggioso Chad partecipa anche a qualche torneo live (come l'EPT di Monaco <\/strong>del 2013), prima di arrendersi al fatto di non avere le forze per continuare a svolgere il mestiere che più amava al mondo: quello di pokerista<\/strong>.<\/p>

Ma non ha mai <\/strong>mollato, tanto da diventare un'icona di coraggio <\/strong>nella malattia, così come era stato un'icona di speranza <\/strong>e tenacia <\/strong>quando era sano. \"Il modo in cui sto affrontando tutto questo<\/em>\", aveva dichiarato, \"è lo stesso con cui gestisco una mano di poker. Ci sono tantissime mosse corrette che puoi fare, e forse perderai ugualmente. Ma anche se dovesse finire in questo modo, per me sarà accettabile perché saprò che comunque ho fatto il massimo possibile per darmi almeno una chance di vincere<\/em>\".<\/p>

Quest'uomo così coraggioso non c'è più. Se n'è andato stamattina<\/strong>, stremato dal dolore fisico e dalla sofferenza, indossando al polso il braccialetto <\/strong>che la direzione delle World Series <\/strong>gli aveva dedicato ad honorem<\/strong> su suggerimento dell'amico attore James Woods<\/strong>. Quel braccialetto che aveva sognato a lungo in vita e che indossare finalmente l'aveva fatto sorridere <\/strong>come un bambino, pur su un letto d'ospedale.<\/p>
