Community Weekly Round-Up: winter promos, poker school interviews and Boot Camp
Barry Carter previews our winter promotions and Boot Camp, plus recapping the last seven days of PokerStrategy.com.
It is getting colder and everybody is starting to talk about the holiday season.
For most people, business starts to wind down right about now. In the online poker industry, this is actually our busiest time for that very reason. There is not much else to do when it is this cold, so everyone plays online poker.
We have a very busy month coming up - we have our Boot Camp coming up and a ton of winter promotions underway.
I'll be burning the candle at both ends for the rest of the year; I got three interviews in the bag this weekend alone and more to come.
Speaking of which, last week I had the rare opportunity to be the one being interviewed by CardPlayer Lifestyle. I'm not sure why anyone would want to interview me (maybe they lost a bet) but it was nice to be on the other side of things.
Which reminds me of a little poker fantasy I've always had: after years of interviewing people right after they win a tournament, I find myself getting jealous. After a while it starts to suck saying "so how did it feel to win $1 million?" knowing I was still driving a Ford Focus.
So I have promised myself if I ever win an actual tournament of significance, I would unashamedly interview myself. "So Barry, they say you played amazingly?" "Why thank you Barry, Phil Ivey was a strong competitor but I guess I did own him pretty hard."
Sadly I can't see anyone wanting to publish that, - more importantly, I can't see myself getting much further than a min-cash in any tournament I play for the foreseeable future. It's nice to dream though.
Thread of the week

As it is close to the start of a new year, I figured now was a great time to start a discussion like this as we are all thinking about our health and success a lot more.
The thread has already had some great responses and many of our members have posted some brilliant videos and advice.
The general consensus is quite clearly that physical fitness plays a significant part in our performance at the tables.
LOL of the week
This week we were reminded that this really happened. Phil Hellmuth genuinely appeared in a Ludacris video a few years back:
In case you missed it....
So as mentioned, the focus really is on our two big seasonal offerings. First we have our Winter Promotions which start today and include freerolls, free coaching, StrategyPoints boosters and SideKick promotions.
We have recently announced these fantastic Double Action freerolls on PokerStars. Not only can you win money, if you refer a friend to play in them and they win money, you win whatever they win too.
Then of course we have our next Boot Camp, which starts on Sunday.
We had new videos from Oblioo and pokerguru740 (Stay tuned for interviews with both men this week).
Lots of people had an opinion on who the Top Ten Party Guys & Girls of Poker were.
Plus we announced a 50% discount on the digital version of Bet Raise Fold.
What to watch out for this week

You can expect live coaching from Pleno1,
TomSom87 and
Uri Peleg.
We also have new videos fromSamPhillips,
CollinMoshman, and
W34z3el.
You can expect a bunch of interviews this week, we have at least three of them about to be written up from the stars of our Boot Camp.
We should be announcing a new partner room early this week.
And as already mentioned, expect a huge amount of stuff for our Boot Camp and Winter Promotion.
I want your feedback on what you would like to see more or less of on the news pages of PokerStrategy.com. Let me know your thoughts, good and bad, in my editor thread below:
