$1 million added value mystery bounties in the WPT World Championship

poker

The battle to be the biggest poker festival in December rages on, and today the World Poker Tour has come out swinging.

The World Poker Tour World Championship event competes directly with WSOP Paradise and EPT Prague. Last week, WSOP Paradise announced added-value prizes for bracelet winners and WSOP final table makers. Today, the WPT has announced their own promotion.

The $10,400 WPT World Championship Main Event will have $1 million added to the prize pool. This will be in the form of mystery bounty prizes. It appears that it will play out like a regular mystery bounty tournament where the prizes are drawn deep into the event.

More Mystery Bounties

Last year, the championship event had a prize pool of $18,277,000. This means that the mystery bounty portion of the prize pool will not be a huge proportion of the overall prize pool. Often, mystery bounties award 50% of the prize pool in the form of bounties. For that reason, this promotion may very well feel like added value rather than a dramatic changing of a long-standing event.

The WPT World Championship takes place between December 13 and 20.

The other big announcement this year is the Super Gold Million event, which is a $400 buy-in tournament with a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. This will also be a mystery bounty event. It takes place between December 10 and 14.

The WPT World Championship takes place between November 17 and December 21. Now, both the WSOP Paradise and EPT Prague schedules have also been released. All that is left is for the poker world to decide where they plan on going this December.
