$1.8 million Bad Beat Jackpot triggered in Canada
A straight flush beat Quad Jacks last week to leave a table at the Playground Poker Club thanking the Poker Gods for their bad luck.
A seven-figure jackpot was triggered, again, at the Playground Poker Club in Canada last week.
The jackpot had climbed to CAD $1,817,990 (approximately $1.3 million USD) before Quads ran into a straight flush last week.
8♠7♠ was the lucky winner against the even luckier loser of J♦J♥ on a J♠T♠T♣J♣9♠ board.
No word on the players or specific payouts, but it will likely have been as follows, based on the promotion rules:
- Hand loser gets CAD$690,836
- Hand winner gets CAD$345,418
- The rest of the table shares CAD$345,418
- Everyone at Bad Beat Jackpot tables at the time share CAD$345,418
- The card room staff share CAD$90,895
This is not the first time the Playground Poker Club has boasted a seven-figure Bad Beat Jackpot, in fact in 2023 they dealt the biggest Bad Beat Jackpot in poker history worth CAD$2,590,185 ($1.9 million USD).
To qualify for the jackpot Quads have to be beaten. To begin with, Quad Aces has to be beaten, but four weeks later Quad Kings can be beaten, and so on, until 49 months later if no jackpot has been won, Quad Twos is the minimum requirement. Both hands must use both hole cards and Quads needs to be made with a pocket pair.
