3 News You May Have Missed: SuperStar Showdown, Ali Tekintamgac Sues and More

In this edition, we will have a look at the latest SuperStar Showdown, which saw Isildur1 going up against Scott "urnotindangr" Palmer. Also, reported cheater Ali Tekintamgac is now suing Partouche and finally we will try to see what it would be like if online poker players were a bunch of chicks.

Looks like Isildur1 misses his ninja avatar

Just like in the previous edition of the SuperStar Showdown, two rounds were set to be played instead of one.

After the match against Daniel Negreanu, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom faced Scott "urnotindangr" Palmer. The two pros sat down at four $50/$100 No Limit heads-up tables either until they play 2,500 hands or until one of them goes busto.

Round 1 took place last Sunday and urnotindangr managed to walk away with the win, finishing with a profit of just $5,425 after the 2,500 hands had been dealt.

Palmer's peak saw him up by as much as $50,300, but Blom got the tables turned later on, having a profit of about $50,150 at one point. However, the whole match was just one big rollercoaster so neither of them got to keep it.

The players will be back for round 2 next Sunday, on April 10th, 19:00 GMT. Since both these players are insanely good and the first round finished with such a small edge in Palmer's favour, we're not sure who will take this.

Ali Tekintamgac to Partouche: See you in court

Ali Tekintamgac is not amused with his win at the WPT Barcelona

You probably remember him: he won the 2010 WPT Barcelona main event and then later on got involved in a cheating scandal at the Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) in Cannes.

What happened was that Tekintamgac reached the final table 4th in chips but the PPT representatives disqualified him from the event on accusations of cheating with the help of fake reporters who would look at his opponents' hole cards and then would use various signals to pass this information on to him. Tekintamgac sued the Partouche representatives in February and the French court accepted his case on April 1st (seriously). According to his case, Tekintamgac is looking to  get €1.5 million in damages, €1.3 million of which represent the first place prize that he was denied by being disqualified, and €200,000 in damages to his reputation.

The court will now examine the case and Partouche will need to present concrete evidence that Tekintamgac was cheating. Also, the judge will have to see if his demands are reasonable, given the circumstances.

Oh and by the way, it's not the first time he got in such a situation: earlier in 2010, he was accused of cheating with the help of reporters" at EPT Tallinn. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the judge says about this.

What if online poker players were a bunch of chicks?

You probably asked this yourself at least once. Unlike you, however, someone took this to the next level and decided to create a sort of web series that examines this scenario.

Titled "Girly: If online poker players were a bunch of chicks", this show will focus on following four "lady grinders" around. The show comes from the director of "A kid's game" documentary, so it should be interesting.
