Bonomo wins One Drop, has biggest winning year in poker history

He also becomes poker's all time money leader and a host of other accolades never thought possible in this game.

There was only going to be one winner in this event. You know it. I know it, now let's get the accolades listed.

Justin Bonomo has just won the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop, defeating Fedor Holz heads-up for $10 million.

In doing so he won his 10th title of 2018 and his 2nd bracelet of the year. He won the biggest single prize of 2018 and perhaps most notably becomes poker's All Time Money leader with $42,979,591, dethroning long time leader Daniel Negreanu.

Bonomo now has also pulled off the biggest single winning year for a tournament poker player with $24,945,435, beating Daniel Colman's 2014 where he won $22,389,481.

This year he has won two bracelets, ten tournaments overall and the three biggest Super High Roller events of the year, this one and both Super High Roller Bowls.

His heads-up opponent Fedor Holz also has cause to celebrate with $6 million for 2nd place, which leapfrogs him into third place in the money rankings with $32,550,886. He also has this rather big hand on his resume:

27 players entered this event which is the lowest of the three $1 million buy-in tournaments so far (48 entered in 2012 and 42 in 2014) but the first prize was still the biggest single score awarded this year at $10 million, with just under $3 million being awarded to the One Drop charity via the player's buy-ins.

The tournament attracted some of the biggest names in poker including Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Isaac Haxton, Adrian Mateos, Stephen Chidwick, Jason Koon, Dominik Nitsche and Eirk Seidel. Phil Hellmuth and Leon Tsoukernik both made a $50,000 non-refundable deposit for this event but chose not to play (Hellmuth instead did commentary at times).
