Chris Ferguson could beat his 2017 WSOP cashes record

We recap the latest from the WSOPE, Matt Damon talks Rounders and learn how major tours recruit dealers.

Almost 3,000 play the COLOSSUS

The WSOPE is now well underway and at its 2nd final table already, the first one of which concluded yesterday as Tamir Segal took down the €550 COLOSSUS for €203,820.

It was a good start to the WSOPE as that event's €1 million guarantee was smashed when 2,992 players in total created a prize pool of €1,435,412.

Shaun Deeb made a deep run in the following €1,650 event to add to his Player of the Year lead.

We hate to mention it but Chris Ferguson has cashed in two WSOPE events so far (and he is deep in the third one, the €550 PLO) and has a very good chance of beating his own WSOP cashes world record if he continues in this manner. He has cashed in 19 WSOP events this year, his record last year was 23. There are eight more events for him to play (including the one he is currently in) to beat his own historic (and controversial) record.

Matt Damon talks Rounders

Sports nut and poker fan Bill Simmons had Matt Damon on his podcast last week following the 20th anniversary of Rounders, so naturally the show had plenty of poker discussion including when Damon played at the WSOP and ran Pocket Kings into the Aces of Doyle Brunson:

How dealers are recruited

You may recall earlier this year we spoke with Alexandre Henry of the Deepstack Open about live poker security. Continuing his video series on the important security measures an operator needs to adopt, this week he released a new video on the recruitment process dealers at his events have to go through:

A big win for Martin

Finally let's end on a positive, as Kevin Martin streamed a win in a $109 MTT live on Twitch:
