Bay 101 Shooting Stars

Yesterday marked the start of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars over in California.

The tournament format sees a shooting star sat at each table, each holding a $5000 bounty on their head.

The action was fast and furious and saw the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Liv Boeree, Jonathan Duhamel and Erik Seidel all line up as bounties. Out of the 19 Shooting Stars, just 5 players remain, with Vanessa Selbst the best placed bounty sitting on 124,500.

Your day 1a chip leader is Bryce Yockey who bagged up 245,300 chips at the close of play.

Follow the action over at WPT Live Updates.

Who's Zooming who

Pokerfuse today reports that PokerStars is set to unleash its new Zoom Poker product onto the real money tables sometime next week.

It was less than 2 weeks ago that Zoom Poker was released in test mode, so the turnaround has been fairly rapid; what's more, the general feeling is that Zoom Poker will be a worthy competitor to FTP's Rush Poker, so we await the first real money games with anticipation.

Not a bad day for Phil G
Deep down, we all know what happens after Viktor "Isildur1" Blom wins big; yes, he loses big.

Yesterday was no different as Blom embarked on a tilt induced crusade over at the PokerStars $100/$200 PLO tables, where his high variance style of play saw him decimate stack after stack, losing over $400,000 in the process.

The main beneficiary of Blom's epic blow-up was Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond, who will wake up today to see his PokerStars balance $643,021 better off, according to HighStakesDB.

We'll see if Viktor can make a comeback today and make his loyal railbird fanbase salivate once again.

In the E-Dog house

This week a 2+2 thread brought Erick Lindgren's previously trustworthy reputation to light, after several posters claimed that Lindgren had not been forthcoming in repaying gambling debts.

If his rep was on thin ice last week, today it has been totally submerged by high stakes gambler and poker pro
Haralabos Voulgaris.

Voulgaris today posted a damning verdict on Lindgren, announcing that "we all knew that Edog was pretty much a piece of **** when it came to settling gambling debts".

He alludes to a huge debt that E-Dog has partially repaid to him, but recounts the slippery nature of Lindgren and his inability to settle up, despite having continuously collected huge dividends from his FTP shares over the years.

It's another sad chapter for poker, but a fascinating post nonetheless.
