Dan Bilzerian facing up to six years in jail

The Instagram king will be appearing in court in January, but claims allegations against him are "absolutely false".

It's fair to say that last week was one to forget for poker playing millionaire playboy Dan Bilzerian.

The widely proclaimed "King of Instagram" was accused of kicking a model in the face at a Miami party, and then arrested at LAX airport just two days later with police alleging he'd attempted to create an explosive device.

Yesterday, Bilzerian spoke out about the charges against him for the first time in a brief interview with people.com.

Here's what he had to say:

"Trashy gossip websites that don't fact check have been intentionally spreading false information about me. The allegations being made against me are absolutely false, and I'm looking forward to shedding light on what happened through proper channels."

"I'll have nothing else to say on the matter now, until it's complete."

"He's a good guy at heart"

People.com also managed to get in touch with several of Bilzerian's close friends, who claim that the entire scenario is "so out of character" and "extremely suspect".

"He has never condoned any sort of violence towards women," stated one anonymous source.

"That's just not what he's about. Sure, he has sexual relationships with women, but he is all about respecting women."

"At heart, he's a really good guy," vouched another friend, Brian Hammond.

"He reached out to me because I adopt special-needs children. He has given us money (Hammond's son is suffering from leukemia) and spent a lot of time talking to us."

Bilzerian will be appearing in court early in 2015 facing two felony counts, and if convicted, could face up to six years behind bars.
