Daniel Negreanu wins his own fantasy draft
Another player who drafted himself went on to win a major fantasy poker league this year at the World Series of Poker.
It may have taken him 15 years to do it, but Daniel Negreanu has finally won his own fantasy draft competition.
The $25,000 Fantasy Draft takes place every year at the start of the World Series of Poker. Teams of high-stakes poker players throw down $25,000 to create the ultimate poker team with a $200 budget. Often they will draft themselves.
Negreanu is the brains behind the draft, and this year, for the first time, he won it for $250,000. He defeated David Baker to the top spot, which is notable as Baker also hosts his own fantasy draft competition, which Alex and Kristen Foxen won this year.

The winning team
Like the Foxen, Negreanu drafted himself in his own team this year, for the hefty sum of $116. It paid off, though, this year as he scored 294 points, helped along nicely by his eighth bracelet win.
The interesting thing is that not a single participant from the Foxen's winning team was also in Negreanu's team. This was, however, the year of the legend, with lots of high-profile names taking down bracelets, so there was plenty of room for two teams of high-scoring players.
