Global Poker Index Update: ElkY on Top
We report on the latest GPI rankings which have a certain Frenchman still leading the way, followed by Jason Mercier and Erik Seidel. Also, twelve PokerStrategists are part of the Top 300 - read more to see which ones are there.
We reported on the newly formed Global Poker index this month. The GPI was introduced by Federated Sports and Gaming and uses select criteria to determine who is the leading player in worldwide poker tournaments.
The league kicked off with American poker sensation Jason Mercier making his debut in the number one spot. The revolutionary ranking system soon had Mercier slipping a spot as he was overtaken by French tournament prodigy Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.

ElkY has remained in pole position this week, leading the way with 2,450.09 points. Hot on his heels are Mercier and tournament shark Erik Seidel. We'll see if ElkY can consolidate his position next week.
Some other notable names include Phil Hellmuth and November Niner Ben Lamb, both of which had amazing runs at this year's WSOP. Also, many PokerStrategists are present in the Top 300, including pokernoob, ace0ntheriver, hotkarlmc and beyne.
