Jeff Madsen wins fifth career WSOP bracelet
A win in the Dealer's Choice event has put Jeff Madsen in an elite group of players with five World Series of Poker bracelets.
Exactly 20 years ago, a 21-year-old Jeff Madsen caused shock waves in the poker world when he won WSOP Player of the Year, the first year he was legally old enough to play.
He is still making waves as he has just captured his fifth career bracelet in the $1,500 Dealer's Choice event. He defeated Philip Wess heads up for the title and $161,057.
The tournament attracted 656 players, making it one of the few tournaments this year that has seen an increase in numbers, as it hosted 597 players last year when Benny Glaser won it. This year, the more esoteric formats have seen growth, but No Limit events are all down in numbers.

One of the great all-around players
Madsen now becomes one of only 49 players who have ever won five or more World Series of Poker bracelets, and certainly one of the youngest
His first two bracelets in that breakout year in 2006 were both in No Limit. Then his subsequent two bracelets in 2013 and 2015 were both in the two different Pot Limit Omaha variants.
Now, a Dealer's Choice bracelet firmly establishes him as one of the great all-around poker players in the game today.
