Max Kruse fined €25k for losing €75k in poker winnings

The Wolfsburg striker got in trouble with his club for leaving his poker money in the back of a taxi.

If you want to talk about a double bad beat, Wolfsburg and Germany forward Max Kruse not only left €75,000 in poker winnings in the back of a taxi, when his club found out they fined him an extra €25,000.

A well known poker fan, last October he had a good night at the tables during the WSOPE. Unfortunately for him, he left the score in the back of a taxi and, as yet, has not had it returned.

It is not clear whether the club fined him for being so careless in public with his money, or for playing poker in the first place. The poker session took place just a day after Wolfsburg's 4-2 win against Hoffenheim. A club spokesman commented:

You might be a private person as a footballer when you are in your bed. At any other point, you are also an employee of the club. We have explained to him what sort of behaviour we expect from our players. We can only hope that he has been taught a lesson and will change his behaviour.

Kruse has not yet commented on the fine. He has contacted the taxi firm to try and recoup his money, but the taxi driver has not been identified.

Pretty harsh fine if i do say so myself. Let the guy play poker if he wants to. However, he should have informed the club he was playing. Or even ask them beforehand.

'It is not clear whether the club fined him for being so careless in public...' - I am pretty sure Wolfsburg dont fine their players for being careless in public. In that case, Nicklas Bendtner would owe them billions.

I thought I was reading american news there for a moment... jeeez.. don't let this brain dead disease spread. So fucking retarded it just can't be put into words... what the fuck is wrong with people? You so fucking insecure you need to control everything you don't fucking understand or have control over? Fuck I hate what humanity is becoming more and more every day.

No it's not harsh, it's completely fucking brain dead and everyone with functioning braincells can see how fucking miserable and ignorant of a leadership you have.

I wish I could say I am surprised though, but sadly I am not, I am just enraged.

#7 im sorry to inform you this, but it is a pretty common thing that people lose stuff. I doubt a guy who is playing in the Bundesliga care too much about 75k. It is by far not the first time I hear about someone forgetting their wallet or money, even people who value money much higher than this guy, can forget about their stuff.

#8 That's not at all what I have a problem with, I have a problem with the fine. It's not about the money it's about the principal that it's fucking retarded to get fined for basically being a regular human being that does what they want on their spare time (playing poker) or just being a regular person managing, like you said to forget in this case, his money in a cab. There is NO logical reason to fine him for either thing and THAT is where my problem is. Just because you're a self righteous, double standard piece of shit that wants things YOUR way, doesn't mean you have any right to pretend to play a god, like this club is clearly ran.

I guess I totally missunderstood your post then, my bad :p thought it was the player and not the club your were blaming.
But that is how Wolfsburg is running their club. Two days ago Bendtner (another Wolfsburg player) also got a fine for being 45 min late to training. Seems like they think fining their own players will help :D

Well fining for not showing up on time I can understand (if it has happened repeatedly), THERE the players do have a responsibility to be professional, and do what is expected of them, that's only fair. It's when they are not scheduled for anything and do what they want with their own free time and get punished for that, that is the real problem.
