PartyGaming in further talks with the US Justice Department

Ever since the UIGEA came into effect in the US, PartyGaming was in talks with the American government and especially the American Justice Department to avoid possible retroactive penalties.

Ever since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) came into effect in late 2006, PartyGaming excluded American players from its sites and thus lost a majority of its customers. Especially the poker platform PartyPoker suffered from the exclusion of the Americans.

Unlike PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker,
which are both in private hands, PartyGaming - as a company traded on the stock exchange - had to pull back from the American market.

Ever since, PartyGaming is in talks with the American government and especially the Justice Department, with the goal to shed some light on uncertainties regarding possible legal measures due to the preceding offer, and to avoid a possible penalty.

According to a spokesperson, PartyGaming is on the right track and expects a decision in the current year.
