Phil Hellmuth & David Benyamine Nearing WSOPE Event #1 Final Table
Event #1 of the World Series of Poker Europe is down to 12 players, including Phil Hellmuth in 2nd place and David Benyamine in 4th. Additionally, the first of two starting days for Event #2 is in the books.

Two tournaments took place during the second day of the World Series of Poker Europe on Saturday. Event #2, a €1,090 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament, began and played through Day 1a somewhat uneventfully. More notably, Day 2 of Event #1 brought the field down to 12 players and two of poker's biggest stars have deep stacks.
Phil Hellmuth will headline Day 3 of Event #1, as he sits in 2nd place with 401,000 chips. Hellmuth was on top of his game all day and was very talkative both to opponents and to himself.
The one man with more chips than Hellmuth is Guilluame Humbert with 541,000.
The second poker star with a healthy stack in the event is David Benyamine, who is in 4th place with 253,000 chips. Benyamine will be looking for his 2nd WSOP bracelet in this tournament, and if Hellmuth wins it will be his record-setting 12th.
Marvin Rettenmaier, Freddy Deeb, and Tristan Wade all busted out, but all three did so after reaching the money.
Event #2 saw a massive number of well-known pros turn out to play, but the vast majority of them won't return for Day 2. McLean Karr, Matt Waxman, and November 9 member Eoghan O'Dea are some of the noteworthy players who managed to survive the day.
Today, 12 players will return for Event #1 to play down to a 6-handed final table, and Event #2 will begin Day 1b.
