Pleno1 deep in SCOOP Main Event

Sunday's action was dominated by SCOOP and when the action resumes today Pleno1 will be fighting for a Main Event title.

SCOOP Main Events to pay out $12 million

Eugene going deep
With the final events of this year's SCOOP taking place last night, PokerStars' Sunday Million was taken out of action for the day as players fought for more than $12 million in prize money.

In typical fashion each SCOOP Main Event ($109, $1,050 and $10,300 buy-in) more than doubled its guarantee and when play resumes today a host of big names will be fighting for some impressive top prizes.

In the richest tournament of the day, the Main Event High, 657 players anted up $10,300 and when the action was paused just 60 players remained.

Amongst those still in with a shot at the $1,235,160 top prize is Eugene Katchalov, Mike McDonald and Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier.

Also nestled amongst that prestigious line-up is Pleno1. Currently ranked #1 in the UK's online MTT rankings, Pleno1 will start today's second session in 17th place with 206,554 chips.

Sunday's Low and Medium Main Events attracted similarly impressive numbers (21,545 and 4,047 respectively) and when the betting resumes today a selection of high profile players, including Justin Bonomo, Sorel Mizzi and Ryan 'HITTHEPANDA' Franklin, will all be in action.

To catch all the action live simply log into PokerStars from 18:30 UTC and for a round-up of all the results, check out tomorrow's Daily Rewind.

Lewis misses out on SCOOP title

Despite the Main Events needing two days to crown winners, yesterday's action did see the SCOOP Wrap-Up come to a conclusion.

Of the three buy-in levels offered, the High incarnation ($1,050) produced the most excitement as Toby Lewis found himself running hot at the final table.

Having made his way past more than 1,780 players, the British pro managed to outlast the likes of Jon 'PearlJammer' Turner and Christer 'lennart' Johansson before cutting a five-way deal.

In amongst the negotiations was Sweden's Alex 'Sussie Smith' Roumeliotis who locked up $173,636 to add to the $294,175 he won in the $21,000 SCOOP Heads-Up High Roller.

Also taking home six-figure scores from the deal was 'Chaz D 87' and 'Emilohlsson', but when it came to playing for the title the task fell to Lewis and 'krzyeyeskila'.

After a back-and-forth exchange it was the latter that eventually finished on top to claim $228,947 as well as his first SCOOP title.

Sunday Major Signoff

With 'ElkY' still playing for a title in this year's SCOOP Main Event High, we thought we'd finish today with him in action against Humberto Brenes.

I will be so annoyed if he wins.

I can't check but I would assume Lewis's runner-up finish puts him back ahead of Pads on P5 (at least for the next 24 hours or so)
