Did Michael B Jordan grab it at the last minute?

Kalshi and Polymarket recorded record trading volume last night at the Oscars, as prediction markets continue to go mainstream.

Forbes reported that prediction markets had done $120 million in trades last night as the ceremony got underway.

$25,562,603 was traded on the Best Actor market on Kalshi, with $13,35,268 trades on Polymarket.

Michael B Jordan won that award, with many experts believing Timothee Chalamet threw it away at the last minute following his controversial comments about ballet.

Even bigger next year?

Will we see record volume next year?

Best Pictures saw similar volume, with $25,390,391 traded on Kalshi and a whopping $38,929,549 wagered on Polymarket.

One Battle After Another took that gong, and it also took down Best Supporting Actor and Best Director.

Prediction markets are becoming embedded in all aspects of culture and news. We have seen record trading volume and new partnerships being announced all the time. By the time next year's Oscars roll around, we might see even more activity and bespoke analysis from the prediction markets as part of the viewing experience.
