It’s a knock out: Mohamed Ali wins WPT Marrakech
In a star-studded final table, relative unknown Mohamed Ali Houssam last night became the latest WPT champion after besting fellow Moroccan Toufik Ourini heads-up for the bracelet and a $25,000 WPT Championship seat.
All eyes had been fixed on the French-speaking PokerStars Pro contingent of Grospellier, Duhamel and Mattern, however each of their respective tanks ran out of gas as they departed in 8th, 7th and 4th spots.
One of the most bizarre hands you'll ever see marked the departure of Maksim Martinov in 3rd place (check WPT updates for full details) and after a fairly sharp heads-up encounter it was the man with the boxer's name who scrapped and jabbed his way to the top of the pile, winning $267,011 in the process.

High stakes corner
The past 24 hours at high stakes corner have seen "ImDadonk" on PokerStars rise to the top of the charts, booking a win for close to $70,000 at the PLO tables.
Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser was back on song yesterday with a $57,741 winning session according to HSDB. It wasn’t a particularly relaxing Sunday for "mikki696" nor "takechip" who both lost close to $100,000.
Chan cleaning up in Macau
Yesterday we heard that the action was spreading thick and fast in Macau and that a certain Patrik Antonius was finding it tough to get a game.
Poker legend Johnny Chan doesn't seem to be having the same problem, as the overnight news is that Chan is playing in the big game, and is winning big.
A source on the 2+2 forums suggests that "so far Johnny Chan is the big winner in the games, up over 11 million Hong Kong Dollars (USD$1.4mm)."
