The Poker World Reacts to "Black Friday"

The reactions to Friday's events have been varied. Some panicked, others took it in their stride, some vow to fight while others sit back and wait for it to all blow over. Let's take a look at some of the reactions here.

GalfondTom_Dwan:
Wow. I long ago realized that laws replaced common sense in every day government, however I still thought n hoped the regulation of billion dollar industries was usually done in a logical fashion

PhilGalfond:
Everyone is panicking too much (Tho I understand). We are extremely likely to be paid our $. I'll guarantee $1m in payouts from FTP/Stars

durrrrTom_Dwan:
I'll match it. Now gonna go get drunk and complain about the doj ;

Tom_Dwan:
If anyone wants to bet on ub paying and ftp not I'll lay 5-1 (so if both pay, wash, bet can settle end of 2012). Need escrow obv.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it – things will never be the same again. This is the biggest thing to happen to poker since Moneymaker’s win and unfortunately it’s the opposite end of the same spectrum – perhaps a more literal poker "boom"

I might travel the world, playing and living here and there from month to month. Other than that, I plan to play a lot of golf and workout. The sites will be back before I could establish citizenship anywhere else anyway.

Dan djk123 Kelly
I’m going to join the world Scrabble tour.

AffleckMatt Affleck
Good Game online poker in the United states! Good thing i have been practicing my live poker skillz the last 6 months

Devin Porter
The people who are good at poker are going to find a way to play online whether it is masking their IP or moving to another country, but the fish are going to be gone. The only people they are going to find there are the regulars coin-flipping for variance and it is not going to be profitable.

AdamsNick Rainey
The games should get a lot softer because a lot of the guys who are decent won’t make the effort to keep playing.

Brandon Adams
Alright, I read everything. Prognosis: Unfavorable

Daniel jungleman Cates
jungleman12sh*t just got real. What the hell. Feel bad for all the careers the us gov is about to destroy (not just poker)

Thayer THAY3R Rasmussen
I’ll probably try out the live pro thing for a bit or look into other entrepreneurial endeavors. After the World Series of Poker, I might consider moving to another country.

Adam Roothlus Levy
I know I’m supposed to be mad about all this online poker Levyhubbub, but I’m at Coachella bitches!

Matt All In At 420 Stout
Everyone else is freaking about online poker being shut down in the U.S….I’m just trying 2 decide between Vancouver and Amsterdam

Daniel Negreanu
NegreanuNot ignoring BlackFriday and as much as I'd love to discuss it, I've been advised not to for now. As soon as I can, I'll add my two cents.

Justin Smith
Will work for food and shelter

Phil Galfond
Does anyone want to buy a slide?

DoyleDoyle Brunson
Now maybe we will see if these online "superstars" can play real poker. Ante up suckers!

Jonathan FatalError Aguiar
The Mayans were only 18 months off predicting the end of the world, pretty impressive.

Jason Senti
It's kind of like losing your job and having a reverse Sentiseverance package...I knew it was possible that some organization could come after poker in the U.S. But I really thought that likelihood was going way down. I didn't think anyone was going to come kicking down the door

Randy nanonoko Lew
hmm…might need to consider buying from the value menu again at McDonalds if things don’t work so well

FTPFull Tilt Chief Executive Officer Raymond Bitar
I am surprised and disappointed by the government’s decision to bring these charges. I look forward to Mr. Burtnick’s and my exoneration.

World Poker Tour live reporter B.J. Nemeth
For the record, today’s poker news has nothing to do with recent poker industry news or deals. This has been a long time coming.
