The original Bitcoin code had planned for poker

We recap some stories you may have missed including Lex gives away a Platinum Pass and new software improvements at MPN.

Poker was part of Bitcoin from the start

Bitcoin

Poker and Bitcoin have been linked for a while now, but few people knew that the game was on the mind of the currencies creator when he launched it.

BreakerMag revealed that Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, included code which could have been the building blocks for a virtual poker game that used Bitcoin when he first created the currency.

The true identity of Nakamoto is unknown, but the article speculates he probably was a poker player, one who perhaps considered Bitcoin a solution to the many regulatory and payment issues facing US poker players after the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

More changes at MPN

Soon after their biggest software overhaul for a number of years the MPN Network has already released a new version with a number of improvements.

Software v38 will have faster memory, improved icons, improved satellite filters and quicker registration.

Multi-tabling has improved, as well as the bet slider, and now you can also play in 'Stealth Mode' meaning all avatars, badges and notifications are removed. You can see all the changes here

Lex gives away a Platinum Pass

A very deserving Doctor from Ecuador is the latest recipient of a $30,000 Platinum Pass, courtesy of Lex Veldhuis.

Benjamin Alvarado did a number of good deeds for Lex's promotion including donating his (very long) hair to a foundation that makes wigs for oncology patients as well as donating his clothes to a cancer charity. He also spent 20 hours doing other activities like hospital visits and has already pledged 50% of any PSPC winnings to the charities he has helped.

Is Andre bluffing?

As one PSPC promotion ends another one begins and this one will test the people reading skills you need to thrive at such a big live event.

Reply to this tweet and say whether you think Andre Akkari is bluffing for a chance to win a ticket to a PSPC Freeroll on November 11. Follow the PokerStars Twitter account below for future chances to win a ticket:

Indeed. It started in the mid 90s, well before online poker.

I think the name was different than Bitcoin in the mid 90s but the use was pretty much the same. It was the ancestor of Bitcoin , can't recall the name maybe GoldCoin or something like that , also had an other name long before that.
