WPT Bay 101: Matusow, Sexton, Liebert Make It to Day 3
The field of 170 players that initially joined Day 2 of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star is now down to just 24. Among the remaining players there are still three Shooting Stars: Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, Mike Sexton and Kathy Liebert. Joris Springael is leading the field with 1,477,000 chips.

A total of 415 players sat down at the WPT Bay 101 tables, with 170 of them making it to Day 2. Only 24 of them remained, all of them hoping to get the coveted WPT trophy.
The chip leader at the end of the day is Joris Springael, who finished with a stack of 1,477,000 chips.
Not far behind the chip leader is 2008 WPT Borgata Poker Open champion Vivek Rajkumar, who is going to Day 3 with the 3rd largest stack of 1,076,000 chips.
The last 24 players will be divided into four tables on Day 3 and the play will last until the final six are decided.
The event generated a prize pool of $3,942,500. The top 45 finishers get paid and the winner will walk away with a cash prize of $1,013,500 as well as a $25,500 WPT seat.

Shooting Star and Full Tilt pro John Juanda had the unfortunate distinction of being the last elimination of the day.

For eliminating a Shooting Star, Smith received a bounty worth $5,000, as well as a signed T-shirt.
Some of the pros that also didn't make it to Day 3 were Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Howard Lederer, David Williams and Jason Mercier.
There are three notable names still in the race for the title, but their stacks are below the average chip count of approximately 520,000: Mike Sexton (361,000), Mike Matusow (352,000) and Kathy Liebert (351,000).
