WPT North American Poker Championship

On Friday the North American Poker Championships in the Niagara Fallsview Casino started with the first of three starting days. The total prize pool is more than $5,000,000!

504 players started, 234 are allowed to continue today on day 2. The buy-in for this event was $10,000.

Day 1A: Among the 174 players of the first starting day were also the professional players Gavin Smith, Tuan Lam, Barry Greenstein and Kenna James. Chipleader at the end of the day was Jonathan Little - hundred players had been knocked out when day 1A ended and Jonathan was able to collect 164,200 chips. Barry Greenstein and Tuan Lam have 76,000 and 85,100 Chips respectively and are still in good shape.

Day 1B: 169 players registered for the second starting day. Besides Freddy Deeb also John Juanda and David Pham were eliminated, but 78 players qualified for day 2. Among them are Kathy Liebert, Jeffa Madsen and the chipleader of the day, Marc Karam.

Day 1C: The third starting day started with 161 players. The most famous among them were Isabelle Mercier, Johnny Chan, Mike Matusow, David Williams and also Daniel Negreanu who all got knocked out. Together with the chipleader Jean-Robert Bellande (200,100 chips) also Gus Hansen, Allen Cunningham, J.C. Tran and Dan Harrington survived the day.

At noon (eastern time) the tournament will go on. The final table will take place on Friday with the last six remaining players. The winner will get almost $1,400,000.
