WPT recruits Phil Hellmuth for analyst’s role

The Poker Brat is to replace Tony Dunst in WPT talent reshuffle following Mike Sexton’s move to partypoker.

Phil Hellmuth Phil Hellmuth has accepted an analyst’s role for broadcasts of the Raw Deal, the World Poker Tour have announced.

In a talent reshuffle, The Poker Brat becomes the latest member of the Raw Deal team, replacing Tony Dunst who joins Vince van Patten in the commentary booth where he will take over co-commentary duties from the outgoing Mike Sexton, now chairman of partypoker.

For those unfamiliar, the Raw Deal is a short cutaway analysis feature that takes an in-depth look at hands and player decisions. It is this analysis that will now be provided by Hellmuth, with his debut coming with the televised Season XVI WPT Choctaw tournament.

A career dream realised

Hellmuth, who worked on ESPN’s coverage of the WSOP Main Event final table this summer, said; “I am honoured to join the World Poker Tour as the new WPT Raw Deal analyst. Becoming a part of the World Poker Tour family has been a career dream of mine”.

Hellmuth’s epic career has landed him a record 14 WSOP championships and over $21m in live earnings but has never won a WPT title, instead cashing 13 times for over $1.1m in their events.
