Freeroll winner takes down $51k at Triton Jeju

poker

We almost had one of the most fairy-tale stories in recent memory in Jeju, but what we ultimately settled for was still pretty impressive.

CoinPoker sent a freeroll winner to play in the $25,000 event at Triton Poker Jeju. The eventual winner of the freeroll was 24-year-old computer engineer Rada Achnit from Morocco, who has only been playing poker since March and has never played in a live poker tournament before.

In addition to that, it was his first-ever trip outside of Morocco, so this was always going to be an adventure.

Putting anybody in a Triton field would be an intimidating experience, but this was something else entirely. Yet amazingly, he went incredibly close to winning the whole thing.

Achnit finished 14th out of 131 of the best players in the world, exiting when he was eliminated by Seth Davies. For that, he took down $51,000 and the experience of a lifetime.

It was unfortunate he missed out on what would have been a life-changing final table, but a 51k bankroll boost to a new player is still the stuff dreams are made of.

The eventual victor was Alex Boika of Belarus, who took down his first career Triton title and $761,000 first prize.

At the time of writing, the $30,000 8-handed event is in full flow with 79 runners, and from what we can tell, Rada Achnit has not bought into that... yet.

If Achnit's experience has inspired you, CoinPoker are now sending one lucky player to play in the stream show High Stakes Poker and are giving them a $100,000 buy-in to do it.
