partypoker announce KO Series schedule

The exclusive series just for progressive knockout tournaments starts on February 25 with $10 million guaranteed.

This Sunday partypoker will be hosting their $215 Sunday Main Event as a PKO tournament for one time only, which will prove a good primer for their KO Series, which has just been announced.

Taking place between February 25 and March 4, the schedule consists exclusively of progressive knockout tournaments with five different buy-in levels; High Roller, High, Medium, Low and Micro. Tournament buy-ins will range from $1.10 in the Micro category up to $5,200 for the Super High Roller Championship Event.

The full schedule is now in the partypoker lobby. Rather than a single Main Event there are seven 'Championship Events' during the series:

Championship Event Date Buy-in Guarantee
KO Series #03-H Sunday February 25 $215 $1,000,000
KO Series #37-HR Sunday March 4 $1,050 $500,000
KO Series #38-SHR Sunday March 4 $5,200 $1,000,000
KO Series #38-H Sunday March 4 $215 $1,000,000
KO Series #38-M Sunday March 4 $55 $100,000
KO Series #38-L Sunday March 4 $11 $50,000
KO Series #38-Mi Sunday March 4 $2.20 $20,000

This series is exclusively focussed on progressive knockout events. In these tournaments every player has a bounty on their head, when they are eliminated half that bounty is awarded to the player who bust them and the other half is added to the bounty of that player. The biggest starting bounty is in the $5,200 Super High Roller where $2,500 of each buy-in will go into the bounty prize pool, so we may see the biggest single bounties ever awarded in an online tournament in this event.

partypoker Ambassador pleno1 said: “When we initially offered PKO tournaments I was generally against the format, I thought it took the “pureness” out of tournament poker, but because of the insane popularity I was forced to play because the prizepools were so big! To my pleasant surprise I loved them, people played way looser and there was a lot of action. They feel very fun to play and a proper designated KO series is the logical thing to do. I’m really excited for it and knocking my friends out with some pretty hands instead of strong ones!”
