partypoker up their Twitch game with Thirst Lounge sponsorship

A very interesting new battleground between PokerStars and partypoker appears to be emerging in the form of Twitch sponsorship.

Until recently PokerStars were clearly the dominant site on Twitch by virtue of the fact they sponsored most of the prominent Twitch streamers.

That was until last week when they surprisingly did not reach a new deal with Jaime Staples and Jeff Gross, who are now free agents.

As PokerStars zig, partypoker zag, and it appears they are upping their Twitch efforts in 2019. Yesterday partypoker announced they were sponsoring Bill Perkin's Twitch channel The Thirst Lounge, which is much a lifestyle channel for poker players as it is a pure streaming site.

In typical partypoker style, their announcement came with what appears to be a troll towards PokerStars. Though he was not named at any point in their press release or blog post, Jeff Gross is pictured in the announcement:

Could this be a sign of things to come for Gross and maybe Staples (who famously won his $150,000 Ultimate Sweat bet against Perkins)? Or is it just a throwing down of the gauntlet by partypoker to say they are now going to compete with PokerStars in the streaming space?

Are partypoker going to sign more streamers? Let us know in the comments:
