WSOP Paradise to award up to $1 million in added value prizes

If you ever needed proof that we were getting close to December, we have started to see GGPoker and the World Series of Poker attempt to incentivise players not to go to the WPT World Championship or EPT Prague.

Every year, WSOP Paradise does something bold to compete with those two flagship events, and this year is no different.

They have just announced a series of added-value cash prizes for players who have already found success at the World Series of Poker this year.

There will be $1,000,000 given away in total, with a single prize as large as $500,000. However, it is only open to people who have final-tabled or won a bracelet event this year, live or online.

Aimed high stakes players

If a WSOP final table maker registers for the Super Main Event on Day 1A, they get $500, and if a bracelet winner does the same, they get $1,000. It's essentially rakeback and clearly designed to boost numbers in that event, or more specifically, re-entries.

If one of these players makes a WSOP Paradise final table, they will get $5,000 if they previously made a final table and $10,000 if they previously won a bracelet this year. They will get five times that much if they reach the final table of the Super Main Event.

Were they to go on to win a bracelet this year at WSOP Paradise, they would get between $50,000 and $100,000. Finally, if the Super Main Event champion made a final table or won a bracelet this year, they would get between $250,000 and $500,000.

The World Series of Poker Paradise takes place between December 2 and December 17. EPT Prague takes place between December 2 and 13. There are no dates yet for the World Poker Tour Championship, but it usually starts around December 3rd and runs all the way up to just before Christmas. Clearly, this promotion, like previous ones before it, is a way to poach players from those events right from the start.

The timing of this announcement is also very smart, as GGPoker are currently hosting their own WSOP online series.

This year's WSOP Paradise schedule is particularly geared towards high-stakes players, and this promotion is no different. The kind of people who have made final tables in bracelet events, and in particular those who have won them, are much more likely to be professional players with lots of bullets to fire. It will make the Player of the Year race even more exciting because everyone who is in contention for that is very much in contention for these added-value prizes.
