Een speler is ‘potcommitted’ of ‘committed’, wanneer hij reeds zoveel chips of geld in de een pot<\/a> heeft ge\u00efnvesteerd, die dermate groot is dat hij zijn kaarten niet meer kan wegleggen mocht een tegenstander hem all-in<\/a> zetten.<\/p>\n

In tegenstelling tot een vaak gemaakte, maar foute interpretatie is dit niet gebaseerd op het feit dat de speler al een groot gedeelte van zijn stack<\/a> heeft ge\u00efnvesteerd, maar op het feit dat hij heel goede pot-odds krijgt voor een call.<\/p>\n

Heeft een speler bijvoorbeeld de helft van zijn stack<\/a> in de pot<\/a> ge\u00efnvesteerd en een andere speler zet hem all-in<\/a>, dan\u00a0 krijgt hij voor de call pot-odds van minstens 3:1, wat wil zeggen dat hij maar in 25% van de gevallen de hand<\/a> hoeft te winnen om in ieder geval geen verlies te hebben. Met extra dead money in de pot<\/a> is er zelfs nog een kleinere winstkans nodig om winstgevend te callen.<\/p>\n

Denkt de speler echter z\u00f3 ver achter te liggen dat hij voor zijn hand<\/a> niet meer de noodzakelijke odds<\/a> en winstkans kan verwachten, dan is het nog steeds correct om de hand<\/a> op te geven, onverschillig van hoeveel geld of chips hij al heeft ge\u00efnvesteerd. Het geld dat al in de pot<\/a> ligt is namelijk niet langer van degene die het heeft ingezet.<\/p>\n
