Slowplayen wil zeggen dat je een sterke hand in eerste instantie passief speelt, door te checken en\/of te callen, om vervolgens op latere streets actie te geven door te betten of te raisen. Het doel van deze slowplay is het representeren van een zwakke hand, om zodoende de tegenstander met zwakkere handen dan jouw eigen hand in de pot te houden, in plaats van hem direct weg te jagen met een raise.<\/p>\n
