Net zoals de eerste winnaar ooit van het WSOPE, Annette Obrestad, zal Mateos nog twee jaar moeten wachten voor hij mag deelnemen aan de WSOP in Vegas, aangezien hij momenteel nog maar 19 jaar is. Hij is ook nog maar de tweede Spaanse bracelet-winnaar, samen met legende en Main Event-winnaar Carlos Mortensen. <\/p>

Hoewel hij relatief onbekend is, heeft hij in het live circuit toch een prachtig debuutjaar achter de rug. Hij won maar liefst twee events, waaronder een Estrellas Poker Tour event voor €103.053. <\/p>

Hij wist de competitie van de Duitse supersterren Benny Spindler en Domibik Nitsche het hoofd te bieden waardoor de hij de ultieme 160 handen durende heads-up confrontatie aan kon gaan met WSOP $10.000 HORSE winnaar Fabrice Soulier uit Frankrijk.<\/p>

De chiplead schoof heen en weer, maar uiteindelijk zou het de dag worden van de Spanjaard, hij haalde de eerste prijs van €1.000.000 binnen. <\/p>

Het enige wat het WSOP nog rest voor dit jaar is de kleine bijzaak van de November Nine en de finaletafel van het Main Event, die over iets meer dan een week begint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
