Op dit moment wordt er in het poker een epische strijd uitgevochten van mens vs. machine. De Carnegie Mellon University bot<\/strong> Claudico<\/strong> neemt het op tegen de professionele pokerspelers Doug Polk<\/span><\/span>, Dong Kim<\/span><\/span>, Bjorn Li<\/span><\/span><\/strong> en Jason Les<\/strong>. <\/p>

De uitdaging vindt plaats in het Rivers Casino, elke pro speelt gedurende 13 dagen 750 handen per dag,<\/strong> tot ze elk 20.000 handen <\/strong>hebben gespeeld. Er wordt steeds  <\/strong>Heads-Up No- Limit Hold'em <\/strong>gespeeld.  <\/p>

Microsoft Research en het Rivers Casino hebben ook $100.000 aan 'appearance fees' gedoneerd aan de vier spelers, terwijl de wetenschappers van Carnegie Mellon spelen voor de eer en de wetenschappelijke vooruitgang.<\/p>

\"Poker is nu een benchmark voor het onderzoek naar kunstmatige intelligentie, net zoals dat ooit bij schaken het geval was.\" vertelde Professor Tuomas Sandholm<\/strong>. \"Het is een spel dat uitermate ingewikkeld is waarbij een machine nodig is om beslissingen te nemen gebaseerd op onvolledige en vaak misleidende informatie, dankzij het bluffen, slowplay en andere misleidende factoren. Om te winnen moet de machine sluwer zijn dan zijn menselijke tegenstanders. Het was een grote prestatie om de sterkste strategieën ter wereld te programmeren - waarbij de algoritmes in de toekomst toegepast kunnen worden in de zakenwereld, voor militaire doeleinden, cyberveiligheid en op medisch gebied.\"<\/p>

\"Mensen hebben de edge\"<\/h2>

Doug Polk, online ook wel bekend als WGCRider<\/strong>, wordt door velen beschouwd als de beste Heads-up No-Limit-speler ter wereld. Hij denkt dat zijn team het voordeel heeft:<\/p>

\"Ik kan me voorstellen dat mensen hier een edge hebben. Het is echter ontzettend moeilijk om de uitslag met enige zekerheid te bepalen, aangezien ik geen idee heb waar ik het tegen moet opnemen. Mijn strategie zal vaker veranderen dan wanneer ik tegen menselijke spelers speel. Ik denk dat er minder handreading zal zijn en minder mindgames. Op een bepaald vlak denk ik dat het ook wel fijn is, aangezien ik me kan focussen op het spelen van het pure spel en ik me geen zorgen hoef te maken over wat hij denkt dat ik denk, enz. Ik kijk dus al uit naar de match.\"<\/p>

Op het moment van schrijven zijn er 12.000 handen gespeeld waarbij de mensen overall $59.766 in de plus staan. <\/strong>Enkel Jason Les verliest momenteel van Claudico, terwijl Polk de grootste voorsprong heeft ten opzichte van de computer.<\/p>
