Het 2007 WPT Championship was een erg speciaal
\nevent. Het trok 644 spelers naar het Bellagio en het event met een buy in van $15,000 zorgde voor een prijzenpot van bijna $10 miljoen. Veel bekende spelers deden mee, maar geen van hen kon de titel winnen. Het werd Eugene Katchalov die de titel mee naar huis nam. Hij is niet geheel onbekend, maar behoorde niet tot de favorieten.<\/p>

Hij kwam terug op de finaletafel tezamen met Jordan
\nRich, David Ulliott, Ted Kearly, Ken Rosen en Ryan Daut. Met bijna 9 miljoen aan chips was Katchalov favoriet om te winnen.  Jordan Rich had 6.5 miljoen chips en de anderen lagen al ver achter op het moment dat ze begonnen. <\/p>

De finaletafel was erg teleurstellend voor Rich. Met ongeveer 6,5 miljoen aan chips was hij de enige die iets kon doen tegen de massale chiplead van Katchalov, maar hij verloor in 3 handen bijna de helft van zijn stack. Het was het begin van het einde, want een paar handen later lag hij eruit. Hij schoof zijn chips naar het midden met pocket jacks en kwam tegen Katchalov's bullets te zitten, waarmee zijn avontuur eindigde. Rich was de tweede speler die het veld moest verlaten, nadat shortstack Daut eruit werd gegooid door Ted Kearly.<\/p>

Katchalov bleef sterk spelen aan de finaletafel. Met een reusachtige chiplead was het een kwestie van tijd, wanneer hij de andere spelers uit het toernooi zou werken. David \"Devilfish\" Ulliot speelde degelijk, waarmee hij derde eindigde. De heads-up tussen Katchalov en Ted Kearly duurde 8 handen en eindigde met een all-in op de flop. Katchalov lag voor op Kearly met \"\"\"\" tegen \"\"\"\" op een  \"\"\"\"\"\" flop. De turn en de river hielpen Kealry niet meer en Katchalov ging naar huis met $2,482,605.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
