Toen hem gevraagd werd of hij Peter Eastgate als de volgende Gus Hansen zag, antwoordde de Zweedse pro Jacob Rasmussen, \"Gus Hansen is eerder de eerste Peter Eastgate\".<\/p>

Ook al is dit citaat uit zijn context gehaald en is het open voor verschillende interpretaties, toch is het duidelijk dat Peter Eastgate en met hem een hele generatie jonge online pro's uit Denemarken - zoals Søren Kongsgaard en Soren Jensen - de kwaliteiten heeft om de eer van Denemarken, binnen de internationale pokerwereld, met verve te verdedigen. Eastgate staat bekend als een van de beteren van deze generatie.<\/p>

\"PeterDenemarken heeft slechts ongeveer 5,5 miljoen inwoners, maar geïnspireerd door het pionierswerk van Gus Hansen heeft het land vaak verhoudingsgewijs enorm veel deelnemers, zowel in de grote live toernooien als ook aan de online pokertafels. <\/p>

Een pikant detail is dat, wanneer Eastgate het toernooi zou weten te winnen, hij in één klap bovenaan de Scandinavische All Time Money-lijst komt te staan en daarmee Gus Hansen ($7.300.000), die met zijn loose-agressive stijl de Deense speelstijl sterk beïnvloed heeft, naar plaats 2 verwijst. Toch is en blijft Hansen het uithangbord voor poker in Denemarken, aldus Eastgate zelf. <\/p>

Ondertussen is hij zich er wel van bewust dat hij, op 22-jarige leeftijd, zijn grote voorbeeld voorbij kan streven wanneer het aankomt op toernooiwinsten. Tegelijkertijd zou hij dan ook de jongste mainevent winnaar ooit zijn. Op dit moment is Phil Hellmuth de jongste winnaar ooit, door in 1989 op 24-jarige leeftijd het toernooi op zijn naam te schrijven.\n<\/p>

Zoals vele nieuwe\/jonge spelers komt ook Eastgate uit de online-wereld. Daar speelt hij geregeld, erg winstgevend, op de limieten tot $200\/$400 No Limit Hold'em. In live events wist hij tot nu toe twee keer te cashen in de EPT en hij werd negende bij de Irish Open 2007. <\/p>

Eastgate wil zich op de finale tafel voorbereiden door zijn tegenstanders intensief te bestuderen, ook al weet hij dat zijn tegenstanders zich, gedurende de lange pauze, ook verder ontwikkelen en dat hij daardoor op 9 november eigenlijk tegen 8 nieuwe tegenstanders speelt.<\/p>
