\"law\"Op vrijdag de dertiende startte ook in South Carolina een rechtszaak<\/a> omtrent de status van poker. Weer een poker-zaak nadat eerder dit jaar ook al zaken speelden in Colorado en Pennsylvania, waar men tot de conclusie kwam dat poker geen gokspel is. De Mount Pleasant rechtszaal zag een enorme gedrevenheid van de verdediging, onder leidinge van advocaat Jeff Phillips, om zoveel mogelijk bewijs aan te dragen om te tonen dat poker een behendigheidsspel is en daarom niet aan de hand van de gokwetten van de staat behandeld kan worden.<\/p>

Mike Sexton en andere experts legden uit hoe poker gebaseerd is op wiskundige berekeningen, timing en kennis over de tegenstanders en hun acties. Mike Sexton moest onder ede verklaren dat hij $5.000 ontvangen had van de Poker Players Alliance om als getuige op te treden voor de verdediging. Hij voegde daaraan toe: \"Ik doe dit meer uit liefde voor het spel, dan voor deze fee\".<\/i><\/p>

Openbaar aanklager Ira Grossman vond de hele redenering dat poker een behendigheidsspels is, irrelevant daar de aangeklaagden gearresteerd waren in hun huis, voor het organiseren van een regelmatig terugkerende gokavond waarvoor op internet reclame werd gemaakt. Nadat beide partijen uitvoerig aan het woord waren geweest sloot de rechter de zitting met de woorden:<\/p>
