Minister verbiedt studenten toernooi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Studentenorganisatie studenten.net<\/a> liet kort geleden weten een studenten poker toernooi te organiseren. Het toernooi is door Minister Hirsch Ballin verboden omdat het in strijd zou zijn met de wet op kansspelen. Als de organisatie het toernooi niet afzegt, zullen er strafrechtelijke stappen genomen worden, zo liet de minister per brief weten.<\/p>

Celstraf voor buy-in van $2<\/h3>

\nEnkele tientallen studenten hadden zich al geregistreerd voor het toernooi met een buy-in van $2,00. Naast de titel Nederlands Studentenkampioen zouden er prijzen te winnen zijn als LCD tv’s en een reis naar Las Vegas, inclusief een seat voor eenWSOP side-event. Volgens Minister Hirsch Ballin is het toernooi in strijd met de Wet op Kansspelen omdat alleen Holland Casino pokertoernooien aan mag bieden. De organisatoren hangt een celstraf van maximaal 2 jaar of een hoge geldboete boven het hoofd.\n<\/p>

Studenten geschrokken
\n<\/h3>

\nEen woordvoeder van de studenten website liet in een gesprek met de Telegraaf<\/a> weten: \"We hebben gekeken hoe andere websites dit ook al hadden georganiseerd en het nu exclusief voor studenten ook aangeboden. En ja, we promoten daarmee een buitenlands pokerplatform. Maar in de betuttelende maatschappij is er altijd wel iemand die er iets van vindt. \"<\/i>\n<\/p>

\nDe organisatoren zijn geschrokken door de felheid van justitie: \"Studenten.net heeft onmiddellijk gehoor gegeven aan deze oproep en heeft het kampioenschap afgeblazen, en de promotie hieromtrent per direct gestaakt.\"<\/i> Er wordt nu gekeken naar de mogelijkheden om de competitie alsnog doorgang te laten vinden, maar dan zonder inleg en prijzen. De studenten die zich inmiddels al ingeschreven hadden voor het toernooi krijgen hun buy-in van $2 terug.\n<\/p>
