Na entrada para a Final Table deste evento do WPT - Bay 101 Shooting Star<\/em><\/strong>, que se realizou em San José na Califórnia, os jogadores e as respectivas stacks eram os seguintes:<\/p>

Com um buy-in de $10,000, e com a participação de 376 jogadores, o prize pool final foi de $3,609,000 - ficando destinado ao grande vencedor da prova um cheque no valor de 1 Milhão de dólares.<\/p>

Com uma diferença tão grande em termos de stack para os outros jogadores, Brandon Cantu era apontado muito naturalmente como o grande favorito à vitória no torneio.<\/p>

Depois da eliminação de John Phan que não conseguiu dobrar a sua short stack, a vitória na prova ficou praticamente decidida com o jogador seguinte a ser eliminado.
\nMichael Baker UTG faz raise para 25,000 e recebe um re-raise de Cantu para 75,000 fichas. Baker no entanto faz 3-bet para 200,000 fichas. Cantu pensa durante um bom bocado e faz novamente re-raise para 500,000 fichas - Baker faz o call.
\nFlop (Q\"\", 10\"\", 2\"\"). Michael Baker faz check mas Cantu coloca Baker all-in.
\nBaker pensa um bocado e diz: \"Está bem, vamos lá jogar. Eu faço call.<\/em>\". Baker mostra (K\"\", 3\"\") e Cantu (A\"\", A\"\").
\nComo no turn e river não aparece nenhum ouro para salvar Baker, ele é eliminado da prova na quinta posição e deixa Brandon Cantu com cerca de 75% do total das fichas presentes na Final Table e agora o principal favorito a vencer a prova sem sombra de dúvidas.<\/p>

Os dois jogadores que se seguiram na prova a ser eliminados foram Noah Jefferson e Jennifer Harman na quarta e terceira posição respectivamente.<\/p>

O heads-up final seria então disputado entre Brandon Cantu<\/strong> e Steve Sung, com as seguintes stacks:\"brandon

\nSteve Sung - 1,385,000 fichas<\/p>

Todas as pessoas que se encontravam na assistência sabiam que era uma questão de tempo até Cantu provar o seu favoritismo e vencer a prova.

\nNo entanto Sung conseguiu fazer um double up, e na mão seguinte:
\nCantu faz raise e Steve Sung vai all-in com (3\"\", 3\"\") mas rapidamente recebe o call de Cantu que tinha (4\"\", 4\"\").
\nNa board aparece (A\"\", 9\"\", 7\"\", 6\"\", 8\"\"). cantu sagrava-se assim o grande vencedor deste WPT - Bay 101 Shooting Star, <\/em><\/strong>recebendo assim um milhão de dólares, que se juntavam aos $30,000 em bounties que tinha ganho (6 no total) e mais $10,000 por ter terminado um dos dias iniciais como chip leader da prova.<\/p>
