\nJim Ryan, o novo chefe executivo dos jogos e do poker online do Grupo PartyGaming, anunciou recentemente através de um comunicado os progressos que a PartyGaming tinha vindo a conseguir nas suas negociações com o governo americano, salvaguardando assim a posição da PartyGaming em termos legais no que diz respeito a futuros processos legais por aceitar apostas \"ilegais\" de residentes americanos:\n

\"As nossas discussões com o governo americano estão a progredir de forma positiva. Acreditamos que estamos perto de alcançar as etapas finais deste acordo. Dito isto, temos que dizer que não estamos a controlar directamente todo o processo, mas mesmo assim continuamos optimistas e manteremos o mercado informado à medida que formos tendo mais progressos.
\nEstamos esperançados que o anuncio de um acordo desta natureza não esteja muito distante.\"<\/i><\/p>\n

\nOs problemas legais começaram quando a PartyPoker aceitou as denominadas apostas \"ilegais\" de residentes americanos ainda antes da passagem em 2006 da Lei UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling<\/span>
\nEnforcement Act). Depois de a UIGEA ter sido aprovada como lei, a PArtyGamig retirou-se do mercado americano e devido a isso perdeu cerca de 50 - 75% dos seus negócios.<\/p>\n

Apesar de muitas pessoas considerarem que o jogo de poker não se enquadra na Lei UIGEA, a PartyGaming enquanto companhia pública decidiu não arriscar levar com processos judiciais em cima. Este acordo que está agora em cima da mesa com o governo americano vai garantir que a PartyGaming não seja alvo de quaisquer processos judiciais, permitindo assim à PartyGaming uma melhor posição para efectuar negócios com outras companhias.<\/p>\n

Quanto ao facto de a PartyGaming ir retornar para os Estados Unidos ou não, Jim Ryan disse o seguinte:<\/p>\n

\"Só reentraremos nesse mercado de uma forma legal e bem regulada. Mas aquilo que temos realmente interesse em fazer, antes mesmo da entrada em vigor de novos regulamentos, é publicitar a nossa marca, mantendo-a assim viva. Como tal, estamos à procura de outras formas e outros caminhos para reforçar ainda mais a imagem da marca, demonstrando que através do nosso site as pessoas se podem divertir ao mesmo tempo que usufruem dos nossos produtos. Existem muitas oportunidades ao nosso alcance para podermos atingir esses objectivos, mas de momento não queria estar a revelar muito, pois ainda não temos nada de definitivo.\"<\/i><\/p>\n
