\nA PartyGaming, a companhia que está por detrás da PartyPoker, chegou a acordo com o Estado Americano para que este não seguisse em frente na sua intenção de processar a companhia pelas operações realizadas antes da entrada em vigor da Lei UIGEA, isto é, por ter fornecido aos clientes americanos a possibilidade de jogar online. A companhia concordou em pagar uma \"multa\" no valor de $105 milhões de dólares.\n<\/p>

\nQuando a controversa Lei UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) foi aprovada em finais de 2006, as companhias que  operavam fora dos Estados Unidos sabiam que poderiam vir a sofrer possíveis queixas judiciais se continuassem a fornecer os seus serviços aos clientes americanos.\n<\/p>

\nAs prolongadas discussões e negociações com o Departamento de Justiça dos Estados Unidos da América chegaram finalmente a uma conclusão, tendo a PartyPoker conseguido que o governo americano não proseguisse com as suas intenções de processar a companhia, mas para isso terá que pagar uma multa de $105 milhões de dólares.<\/p>

Este acordo, apesar de ser bastante elevado, pode ser uma boa noticia para a PartyGaming. Os efeitos deste acordo foram imediatos, com as acções da PartyGaming a serem transaccionadas no mercado de valores de Londres a 219 centavos.<\/p>

\n\n<\/p>

\nCom este acordo chega também a proibição de qualquer tipo de ação judicial por parte do Estado Americano, o que torna a PartyPoker e os seus subsidiários muito mais atractiva para as outras companhias que pretendam fazer negócios com ela. No entanto, a maior vantagem talvez seja se (ou quando) o lucrativo mercado americano abrir novamente as suas portas à competição europeia.\n<\/p>

Estamos agora bem posicionados para aproveitar novas oportunidades estratégicas que anteriormente eram simplesmente inantigíveis.\"

\nComo parte do acordo, a companhia aceitou assinar uma \"Declaração de Factos<\/i>\" respeitante às suas actividades económicas anteriores à entrada em vigor da Lei UIGEA. Ao assinar esta declaração, a PartyGaming confirma que a companhia forneceu jogos na internet a jogadores localizados em território americano entre os anos de 1997 e 2006 - altura em que entrou em vigor a nova Lei.\n
