SoyCD and robyroy win in the Sunday Tournaments

Kicking off at 20:00 CET, our No-Limit Hold’em and Omaha-Hi tournaments on PartyPoker featured a chance to get your hands on some PokerStrategy gear, with bounties placed on TribunCaesar and SoyCD. Recap inside.

Featuring a wide array of players from the community, Sunday's tournaments were a lot of fun for those involved.

Omaha-Hi – Buy-in $5 – 15 players

The
Omaha-Hi tournament started with a bang, with the first elimination coming within the first 3 hands. swissmoumout started off the action with a quick double up, eliminating ‘stivegod’–
his A high club flush edging out the K high flush. Yet after some early
accumulation of chips from swissmoumout, it was SoyCD who unleashed his Admin powers and
proceeded to dominate the big pots. First victim of the night was Drakhor, whose trip 9’s were rivered by trip A’s.
Running good, SoyCD then went on to eliminate Thorsten77 with AAQ3 vs KKJ3 and Marky84 with trip kings. This gave him a comfortable chip lead with nearly 3 times the average stack.

With
SoyCD now adopting a more conservative approach, it was the second admin TribunCaesar who began
to light up the final table action, taking down a monster 3-way pot. With 3
players all-in pre-flop, TribunCaesar’s AAK9 held up against Sharkking89's
JJ107 and Leo258's AQ3Q respectively. This put the chip lead firmly in the hand of the two admins, who had seemingly rigged the all-in luck in their favour. However, only shortly afterwards Tribun lost a significant part of his stack to Snodreliss whose pair of kings held up against Tribun's tens on a dry
board of 65869. Now it was SoyCD who again took over control by busting Kaitz20 and TribunCaesar in a single hand.
On a board of , SoyCD turned over the nut flush with , ousting TribunCaesar’s pair of aces and Kaitz20’s 3 of a kind Jacks.

The battle continued 3 handed with the chips going back and forth between Snodreliss, SoyCD and Cardbender420. Interesting to note is that at the same time, Snodreliss was also in 3-handed play in the NL tournament as dominating chip leader. Yet in the Omaha tournament it would be Snodreliss who was first to go, losing
out to SoyCD. On a board of 255, Snodreliss pushed in his last chips in a re-raised pot with an overpair, only to be called by SoyCD who was holding a full house, twos full of fives.

Having
already picked up TribunCaesar’s bounty, SoyCD had victory in his sights when
he flopped top set on a board of . However, Cardbender420 was also holding a formidable hand in the form of middle set and a club-draw. When the hit on the turn, it was therefore SoyCD who needed help from the board. The river didn't pair the board and it was suddenly Cardbender420 with the HU chip lead.

In tense heads-up match with two nearly even chip stacks, it was SoyCD
who came out victorious. On a board of 678, Cardbender raised, SoyCD re-raised and Cardbender pushed all in holding 59xx for the second nut straight. However, SoyCD was holding the absolute
nuts, with 9TJ, and held on for first place.

No-Limit Hold’em –Buy-in $2 – 28

Likewise,
the No-Limit Hold’em tournament began eventfully, with sharkking89’s JJ going up against mudkip’s AA and failing to improve. After a solid start,
TribunCaesar took a massive hit, as his JJ
ran into Sismis’s KK. Unfortunately for Sismis, he was denied the bounty
as TribunCaesar was still left with 250 chips. Although Tribun fought
back admirably to the 800 mark, a rash attempt at a steal backfired when his 34
was called by mudkip's K5. The latter paired his K on the river, busting
TribunCaesar and earning his bounty.

Meanwhile,
SoyCD (LoLMaha), who had been bleeding chips early on, managed to double back up to the
2200 mark when his AQ edged out Leo258's (PwnMaha) pocket 5’s. But the battle of the
‘maha’s was not yet over, as the very next hand Leo258’s AA held up
against SoyCD’s QQ. The once more short-stacked admin then pushed 99 from mid position and looked to be out of the tournament when ‘Ninja130’ called with AK and paired his A
on the flop. He was saved by a 9 on the river though which also restored his diminished chip stack. The luck ran out soon afterwards though as he found himself all-in
with QQ in a 3 way pot. On a board of 10 A 3 5 J, his hand must have felt very
vulnerable, and sure enough robyroy turned over two pair AJ to surge past
the 14,000 chip mark, while collecting SoyCD’s bounty.

The
final table, which shared several players with the Omaha FT such as Kaitz20 and Leo258, and also saw Drakhor and swissmoumout with healthy chip stacks, was dominated by Snodreliss, who proceeded to bust one player after the other. His first victim was Leo258 who pushed his pocket 7's in later position only to be called by Snodreliss who had limped AA from UTG. The aces held up and Leo was sent to the rails. Snodreliss would then build his chip lead to an intimidating 44,000
after busting 'Matthumat1c', to turn it into a 3-handed match between himself, robyroy andTwiceT. It was robyroy however who would take the
initiative- and the chips, doubling up through Snodreliss with an A high flush on a board of
, against pocket kings.

In
the space of two hands, robyroy then secured a quick, if somewhat
fortunate, victory. Pushing all-in pre-flop his A7 managed to win the flip against TwiceT’s pocket 6’s when an ace hit on the
flop, securing him the two-to-one chip lead over Snodreliss in HU. The HU ony lasted a single hand as it came to yet another pre-flop all-in with robyroy holding 99. Snodreliss was holding QQ and was in good position to double up - yet the 9 on the turn sealed the victory for the chip leader. Robyroy therefore secured his title as first English community champion.
