"I'd Be Happy to Compete With Korn at the Final Table"
Five lucky PokerStrategists recently played in the $10,000 freeroll at Poker Heaven and won their ticket to the PokerStrategy.com World Championship - among them mattee from the German community. In our interview, the Swedish-born player talks about his expectations.
PokerStrategist mattee ran into PokerStrategy.com's founder before, when both were attending the Diamond Party in Hamburg. "We only exchanged a few words, but I got a very good first impression," mattee remembers.
Now, mattee is excited about playing in the PokerStrategy.com TV World Championship where he might meet once again - this time at the final table. "I'd be happy to compete with him there!" mattee says. He adds that this will be the next big step in his poker career and help him develop as a poker player.
Less than two weeks ago, mattee played in the $10,000 depositor freeroll at Poker Heaven and finished in fourth place, winning one of the $2,500 VIP Packages to London and $650 cash on top.

"I worked on my weaknesses"
"I considered this tournament to be my best bet to qualify for London," mattee says in our interview.

He has played a few depositor freerolls before, but this was his first shot at Poker Heaven. In fact, he didn't even have an account there before the tournament.
mattee has lived in Hamburg for a few years now and discovered PokerStrategy.com when he started playing poker in 2008. A member of the German community, he learned about the different strategies and slowly but surely made his way up the limits.
During that time, he tried out almost all game types: "I played a lot of SnGs, but in the end I switched to MTTs because that's what I was most successful at," he tells us. Right now he plays MTTs with buy-ins of between $1 to $27 – and he plays around 10 to 30 simultaneously.
mattee says that he is prone to tilting in cash games and that there were times when his bankroll had shrunk to almost zero.
That's when he decided to take a break from poker and focused on poker theory again. "I wanted to work on my two biggest weaknesses: tilt and bad bankroll management. Everything has been going uphill since then," he says.
A good run to the final table
His ticket to the PokerStrategy.com TV World Championship shows just how good it's going for him. mattee had a consistently good run throughout the tournament, playing with double the average stack size of the other players: "There were plenty of players who easily let go off their chips. I wasn't even worried about losing my stack before the final table."
At the final table, he soon found himself in a push-or-fold situation. Twice he was all-in against the chip leader, but won both times. "I got eliminated after a 10BB flip with 99", mattee explains.
"I participated in the tournament because I wanted to play in London. I made it, so I'm feeling good about that!". He doesn't think he will be too nervous to be on TV but isn't 100% sure!
For mattee, the PokerStrategy.com TV World Championship is a great chance for PokerStrategists to get to know some of the great players and coaches from the community. "If I had not qualified, I would definitely watch the PokerStrategy.com TV World Championship with great interest".
