Introducing the PokerStrategy.com eSports Forum & StarCraft 2 Tournaments

Poker fans with an interest in gaming can now meet like-minded friends in our exclusive eSports community forums, which includes regular weekly tournaments for StarCraft 2 enthusiasts.

eSports
As some of you will know, PokerStrategy.com has strong roots in the eSports scene and a lot of our community members are as enthusiastic about eSports as they are about poker. Our biggest dedication lies with StarCraft, as this is where Dominik korn Kofert has his roots and used to be one of the best players in the world.

After sponsoring the TeamLiquid StarLeague 2 in 2010, being head sponsor of the PokerStrategy.com TSL3 in 2011, and being one of the sponsors of HomeStoryCup IV in 2012, we wanted to create something fairly regular for our community members with an interest in eSports.

On a weekly basis we will now hold several StarCraft 2 tournaments with a combined prize pool of $500:

From Monday to Thursday, we will hold the StarCraft 2 Freeroll that carries a $50 prize for the winner. The winner also qualifies for our "Final Table."

On Sunday, 4 qualifiers battle out to decide who moves into the finals on Sunday evening and plays against a voted StarCraft pro.

What are eSports?

Electronic sports (eSports) refers to the competitive play of video games. Just like poker, eSports can be played professionally both online and at live events around the globe. Some of the best poker players in the world have a background in eSports, including Randy nanonokops Lew, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, and Lex Veldhuis.

One of the most popular eSports is StarCraft, a game which Pokerstrategy.com CEO Dominik korn Kofert excelled in, and still to this day has a strong affinity with. The skills needed in poker are surprisingly similar to those needed in games like StarCraft, and vice versa.
