What separates rich and poor poker players?

In today's Saturday Coffee we show you why you need the right mindset to win at poker, just as KidPoker and one of our members have.

Poker Clip - living a dream

A few weeks ago we showed you a young poker pro's beautiful flat in Las Vegas. Many poker pros live in similar luxury conditions.

Now our favourite 'KidPoker' shows us his house (with the help of PokerStars). His interior design style differs a little from the flat in the article above, but for sure it's "interesting".

We can not only see a room with a poker table but also a golf area outside, as well as arcade machines and a Negreanu's photo with the (current) POTUS. Awesome!

Poker Motivation - Research about IQ, personality and success in life

How to earn that kind of money? Some people have a fixed mindset and believe their basic qualities (like their talent) are fixed traits and success is destined only for people born with those traits.

On the other hand there are people to who have growth mindsets. They believe that they can develop their skills through dedication and hard work. Talent is just a starting point for them.

The latest research confirm that IQ is not the best predictor of person's financial success. A more important factor is conscientiousness (consisting of diligence, perseverance and self-discipline). This is what separates poor people from the rich. Of course intelligence, several other personality traits and even luck are important for one's success.

But still - conscientiousness is the king. We know it, and hopefully after all our Saturday Coffee articles you know it too. If you want more informations about this phenomena, read this Bloomberg article - 'If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?'.

But what else can you expect from an ex-professional sportsman? Those guys are machines, they know that training is crucial for someone who wants to get to the top!

If you want to pump up your motivation level even more, make a hot coffee and watch this long (two hours) interview with vicktor and Joe Ingram:
