David Tang wins the first ever WPT Australia
Unable to cancel his flight, David Tang decided to win a WPT title and six-figure prize instead.
The World Poker Tour continues to travel to new and exciting destinations. This week they concluded the first ever WPT Australia at the Star Gold Coast Casino.
710 players bought in for the AUD $5,400 Main Event and it was David Tang of Melbourne who took it down.
Amazingly had his travel plans gone better he would have missed out on his AUD $647,470 first prize as he almost didn't attend.
“I’m still a bit stung, but it’s awesome. I wasn’t expecting to get this far,” said Tang, after his victory. “To be honest I was actually trying to cancel my flight here because I wanted to watch the (Australian Football League) Grand Final in Melbourne, but they wouldn’t give us a refund on our flights so it just all worked out.”
