WSOP Event #38: A Day Packed With Top Pros

The $2,000 Limit Hold'em event gathered 446 players which generated a
total prize pool of $811,720. Top 45 spots will end in the money with
the first place finisher being awarded $190,770. Some of the early
arrivals included Michael Mizrachi, Barry Greenstein, Dragan Galic,
Brock Parker and Matt Hawrilenko.

As always, there were those who decided to skip the early action and
use that time to rest a bit more. Phil Ivey, Andy Black, Greg Mueller,
Alex Kravchenko and Shawn Buchanan were all seen arriving when the play
had already reached Level 3.

Even though it's usually Phil Hellmuth making late arrivals, John
Juanda pretty much set the new standard - he arrived when his stack was
down to just 400 in chips. He tried to get some chips, but he lost the
first time he moved all-in and that all from him in this tournament.
Juanda was also the last player to take his seat in the $10,000 Limit
Hold'em a few days ago.

Phil Ivey's late arrival cost him dearly, as he never got above his
starting stack and eventually, he got himself in a hand which sent him
to the rail. He raised in late position and then called all-in for 750
total to a re-raise from the button. The big blind was also in the hand
but folded after the button fired a bullet both on the flop and the
turn. The final board read and Ivey's was swimming in the sand as his opponent held to scoop the pot and eliminate Phil Ivey (pictured left).

Dragan Galic didn't have any less troublesome day, amongst other things, his
pocket aces got cracked. There was a raise pre-flop, Galic re-raised
with pocket aces and a third player made the call. Galic bet on a
rather dry flop, the initial raiser folded and the third player called.
A king came on the turn and a ten on the river - Galic's opponent
showed K-T and Galic sighed, "This is the last limit event I play in the U.S."
