Titan Try New Strategy

The former faces of Titan

Titan Poker has released an official statement regarding the recent parting with their pro team.

A short press release on Titan’s homepage, read:

“Following a remarkable two year partnership with our Team Titan pros Sam Trickett and Marvin Rettenmaier, a mutual decision has been made to part ways.

From our side, we are pursuing a new branding strategy which moves away from focusing on a pro team and emphasizes our appeal to main stream and recreational poker players.”

Rise of the Anonymous Player

Is the person sitting opposite you a winning player? In the past you could have clicked through a few web pages and found out, but all that is starting to change.

After PokerStars threatened Poker Table Ratings with legal action, the rest of the data sharing community seems to have taken notice.

Poker-Edge, PTR’s main competitor in the data-mining stakes, quickly moved to a closed service and now Sharkscope and Official Poker Rankings have done the same.

Both sites have previously trialed an opt-in/opt-out system for PokerStars players but, following recent incidents, they have now moved to a full opt-in policy.

Opt-in to unlock your data

A statement on Sharkscope’s website, said:

“For the past few years we have made great efforts to collaborate with PokerStars on their 3rd party data collection policy. Unfortunately now the time has come where they are requiring us to completely implement their opt-in procedure on their .com network, even for subscribers.”

Guy in Space

You may be used to read news of Guy Laliberte donking off huge amounts at the poker table but he’s also someone who likes to give millions of dollars to charity.

Indeed, in collaboration with the WSOP, Guy has organised a $1 million tournament for his charity, One Drop.

However, that’s not the only fundraising effort Guy has been involved in. The Canadian billionaire became the first tourist from his country to visit space, back in 2009.

The space adventure was caught on camera and has been turned into a documentary called, Toucher le Ciel.

A preview has just been released before the final film hits screens on May 18th.

WPT Early Birds

With the WPT World Championship just a week away, some of the game’s top players have been keen to beat the registration rush and ante-up their $25,500 early.

The roster of talent is already impressive, with the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Scott Seiver and PokerStrategist, Jonathan jonathanlittle Little all eagerly awaiting the first “shuffle up and deal”.

The Season X finale already looks set to provide some serious action, with the Player of the Year race still wide open  as well as a $100,000 Super High Roller event all set to bring the WPT to an exciting conclusion.
