Severe rain causes delays inside the WSOP
Extreme rainfall causes problems inside and outside of the Rio as 1,716 players enter on Day 1B of the Main Event.
Poker takes one step closer to real sport as the World Series of Poker fell victim to heavy rainfall on Day 1B of the $10,000 Main Event.
It's not often the Las Vegas desert has to compete with extreme weather of this kind, but it caused traffic chaos, as this video highlights:

Amazingly, the action inside the Rio was also brought to a halt, as rain started to come in from the ceiling of the Brasilia Ballroom about ten minutes before the dinner break. 23 tables in total had to exit the card room early, before being relocated to another room.

It also caused trouble just outside of the Rio, as poker players taking a break then had to compete with running through severe rain to get back into the card room:
1,716 players entered Day 1B of the Main Event, with Dominik Nitsche, George Danzer, Brian Rast, Daniel Colman and Greg Raymer among some of players to boast a big stack early on.
