The PSPC has been postponed

The fan favourite High Roller event in Barcelona will be postponed till 2021 with Platinum Pass winners retaining their tickets.

With the fate of the World Series of Poker revealed the second biggest event of the poker year remained in doubt, until now. 

The second PokerStars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship had been scheduled to take place in Barcelona during the EPT between August 20-24, but it has now been postponed because of the global coronavirus lockdown. EPT Barcelona is also cancelled. 

While individual card rooms are beginning to reopen around the globe, all implementing strict social distancing measures, running a major international tournament with hundreds of online qualifiers is a whole other ballgame. The event will still take place at Casino Barcelona in 2021, but specific dates have not been confirmed. 

One unique aspect about this event is the Platinum Pass, which have been awarded mostly for free to players of all levels and are worth around $30,000. Those passes are not refundable and remain valid for this event whenever it finally takes place and special promotions are expected for the people who have already won a pass while they wait. Players who have won their packages via direct cash satellites will have the option to request the total cash value of their package.

In addition an extra 80 Platinum Passes will be awarded to this event, taking the total to 400. Platinum Pass winners were made aware of the postponement prior the announcement to media and will be kept up-to-date as more details are announced. 

In addition, Road to PSPC Cannes, Road to PSPC Madrid Torrelodones and Manilla Super Series 14 have been cancelled. 

Last year the first PSPC attracted 1,039 players including over 300 Platinum Pass winners, one of whom, Ramon Colillas, took it down for $5,100,000 and eventually a PokerStars sponsorship. The event was a massive hit because of the aspect of amateur players playing against High Rollers.
