Hi,
my name is Paul and for starters I would like to apologize that this post is in English but my Deutsch is pretty non-existing.. If this topic is in wrong section please move it as I couldn't tell where I can write this..
I would like to ask anyone who knows something in this topic to help me if they can.

I'm am thinking of moving to Vienna and I was wondering if you guys can tell me what is situation of online and live poker there?
1. Is online poker legal and what are the taxes if so?
2. I assume live poker is legal, since there are many tournaments in Vienna, but what's the traffic and can I find a game in casino in times other than poker festivals? How many people play poker in bars/homes if any?
3. Any other tip you can give related to me moving to Vienna and playing for living?

I would greatly appreaciate every advice you can give me - would be much help. :f_thumbsup:

Regards,
Atalol

1. legal, no taxes

2. many lowlimit tournaments, check hendonmob or the local casino sites like montesino.at or ccc.co.at/concord_card_casino for more informations or like their facebook pages. cashgames daily (NLHE 1/1 1/2 sometimes 2/5 OMH 2/2 5/5). there are a few lowlimit homegames running in vienna everywhere (example: pokus.at) never been there, but as far i know they play lowlimit tournaments and afterwards cash 50c NLHE and OMH.

3. dont focus only on poker

If u dont plan to learn german u could consider moving to UK. Poker is really legal and ur english seems to be very solid which will give u an easy start!

legal ONLY at win2day, where u can only play with an austrian bank account.

illegal at any other site.

the taxes situation is unclear in any case.

Well UK is and option, but it all depends where my fiancee will find job. I can do mine everywhere. And if I move to Vienna, I will learn German ofcourse :) Very usefull language to know. And yes, we are going to rent a flat. Any suggestions?

www.immobilien.net is the largest site.

without contacts u will most likely not be able to find a nice flat within the city without a broker, so renting a flat is very expensive in general.

www.jobwohnen.at covers privats ads also.

and again, poker is not tax-free.

Thank you very much for links :f_thumbsup: My friend have some friends in Vienna and also my cousin visits it often in buisness related matter so I will ask them if they can help me with finding a flat.
About poker legality: so I guess it's like in Poland - a grey area? Noone pay taxes and noone is forcing them but from the law point of view people should pay them?
Do I get it right?
